Wellbeing & Mental Health
Wellbeing matters deeply at East Hunsbury Primary School. We teach children the importance of good mental health and help them build strategies to stay mentally fit and resilient.
Through our PSHE curriculum, children develop a mental fitness toolkit as they progress through school. This includes understanding emotions, managing stress and knowing how to seek help when needed. Our SMILE curriculum, which is an emotions based curriculum written in collaboration with Erasmus project is woven into our curriculum and directly teaches children about a range of emotions, their impact and strategies to deal with them when needed.
We have a dedicated pastoral team trained to support children and families with targeted interventions when necessary.
We also take part in national initiatives such as Young Minds Day, wearing yellow and leading assemblies to raise awareness.

Who work together to implement initiatives to improve and support the wellbeing and mental health of our whole community.
Our value Be Kind includes being kind to yourself. We want every child to know that looking after their mental health is just as important as looking after their physical health.
