Forest School
Forest School is an incredibly important part of life at East Hunsbury Primary School. We know that time outdoors strengthens wellbeing, builds resilience and supports children’s physical, emotional and cognitive development.
Research shows that Forest School improves confidence, language skills, collaborative play and problem solving.
We have invested significantly in our outdoor curriculum and are proud to have four trained Forest School Leaders, including a dedicated Forest School Manager who oversees our provision.
We have a large on-site Forest School area as well as access to the beautiful Penvale Park where children build dens, climb trees, explore nature and learn through real adventure. At school you may find children swinging in basket swings, cooking on the campfire or mixing imaginative potions.
Children in Year 2, Year 4 and Year 6 receive a six-week block of Forest School each year with Reception enjoying twelve weeks. Forest School is also part of our offer for children in The Hive and for those who benefit from additional nurture.
We also run Hunsbury Hedgehogs, a Forest School group for pre-school children which strengthens transition for families and deepens our links with the local community.
