Supporting Your Child at Home
There are many ways you can help your child succeed. Here are some of the most important:
1. Read - and read lots
Reading is the gateway to education and a powerful tool for wellbeing. Research shows that children who read daily are more likely to achieve highly across the curriculum.
Reading together builds vocabulary, imagination and confidence. And, it is a lovely thing to do together. The best thing you can do? Read, read, read — every day.
2. Sleep and eat well
Sleep is essential for learning and mental health. Studies show that primary-aged children need 10–11 hours of sleep each night. A balanced diet fuels concentration and growth. If you need advice, visit:
3. Talk to your child
Conversation builds language and emotional resilience. Ask about their day, share stories and play games that spark discussion. Resources like the Really Good Conversations for Kids cards can help as conversation starters.
4. Limit devices
At EHPS children are not allowed mobile phones. Excessive screen time can affect sleep, attention and wellbeing.

5. Play and spend time outside
Outdoor play supports physical health, creativity and mental wellbeing. Make time for fresh air and active play every day.
6. Attendance and punctuality
Children learn best when they are in school, on time, every day. We monitor attendance closely and our pastoral team is here to help if you need support.
